4-Hers, KMCB join to clean up riverbank

Volunteers spent Saturday morning, Oct. 5, crawling on the riverbank and walking around the South Fork Broad River in Madison County as Madison County 4-H and Keep Madison County Beautiful (KMCB) picked up pipes, plastic bottles, cans, wrappers and even cigarette butts. The group, which included Madison County 4-H Club students and other Madison County residents, worked their way along the riverbanks and trail paths. The event was put on by KMCB, the nonprofit working to clean up local highways and river. The river clean-up included nine 4-H’ers, four adults and many neighborly residents, to greet, commend and donate money to the river cleaning efforts.
