Rotary constructs ramp for Hughes

The Rotary Club of Madison County constructed a 4x4 platform and a 12-foot handicap ramp Thursday Jan. 9 for Edna Hughes, who lives on the Rogers Mill Road. She is a native Madison County resident, and was a parapro teacher at Danielsville Elementary School for 20 years. She taught from kindergarten to the fifth grade. She had heart surgery several years ago and now she is unable to walk around without a walker or wheelchair. Before she was unable to attend she was a member of the Blue Stone Baptist Church. She said she was thankful for the opportunity to get out of her house without falling on the steps. Workers on the ramp included Ed Brown, Alan Phillips, Bob Padilla, Artry Bishop, Johnny Minish, James Adams, Roy Gandy, Mitchell Hill, Walton Hill, John Westmoreland, Wade Scarboro and Jerry Coutant.
