Rotary constructs ramp for the Hitchcock family

The ramp crew of the Madison County Rotary Club constructed its 788th handicap ramp for Inez Hitchcock on Farm Road in Madison County Thursday, Sept. 3. Inez Hitchcock is a life-long county resident and a graduate of Madison County schools. She worked early in her life in the textile industry at Medike Labels in Athens. Subsequently, she worked many years as a custodian for the Madison County School System. She now has Alzheimer’s disease that has progressed to the point her brain and her feet fail to work together. But she has a large and loving family led by her children, Bernita and Bruce, who provide the constant care she needs. Hitchcock worships at Waggoner’s Grove Baptist church in Colbert. The volunteers on the ramp crew included David McGinnis, Johnny Westmoreland, Alan Philips, Bob Padilla, Johnny Minish, Walton Hill, Mitchell Hill, Artry Bishop, Bruce Gandy and Ed Brown.
