The Danielsville City Council voted recently to hire Dale Perry as the city’s new attorney. The council agreed to pay Perry $150 per hour, plus a $500 retainer for his services to the city. Perry also serves as city attorney for Colbert.
The council terminated the services of long-time Danielsville city attorney Victor Johnson at its December meeting, effective Dec. 31. Johnson worked for the city for an hourly rate of $150, according to city clerk Connie Riley.
Johnson has served as the city’s attorney for the past 15 years, but at the December council meeting the council expressed concern at potential conflicts of interest as one of the reasons for the decision, since he also serves as the attorney for the county’s industrial authority.
In other business, the council did not hire anyone for a part-time position at City Hall that was to be discussed Tuesday night, but agreed to advertise the position for two weeks.
