A home on Johnson Bridges Road was completely destroyed by fire Aug. 13. According to Danielsville VFD fire chief Marc Perry, Blake Graham was home alone when he woke to discover his house on fire. He escaped, going to neighbor’s home to call 9-1-1. By the time firefighters arrived, the home, which was built circa 1930, was fully engulfed in flames. Graham was not injured and the Red Cross was called in to assist him. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

In a separate incident, a home at 181 Hwy. 98 East suffered significant fire damage early Sunday morning. James Temple and his son Perry were home at the time of the fire, but escaped unharmed. Temple’s wife and granddaughter were not at home at the time of the fire. Fire chief Perry said his department received the call about 12:50 a.m. Comer and Ila also responded as back up. Perry said the fire began in a bedroom that was formerly a carport and spread to the attic. The Red Cross was also called in to assist this family.
