Two Madison County men face theft and drug charges after a traffic stop on Hwy. 281. Keith Daniel Porterfield, 49, 74 Gooch Road, Danielsville, has been charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession and use of drug-related objects, two counts of theft by taking (felony) and one count of theft by taking (misdemeanor).

According to a report from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Gaddis had a felony warrant for theft by taking a motor vehicle. Deputies spotted Gaddis and pulled him over on Hwy. 281. Porterfield was also in the vehicle, a gold Chevy 1500.

Deputies found a glass smoking pipe with an off-white crystal-like residue that tested positive for methamphetamine. Gaddis said that it wasn’t his and that he already lost a vehicle due to drugs. Gaddis and Porterfield were transported to jail.
