FFA honored nationally

Madison County High School FFA members attended the 92nd National FFA Convention and Expo Oct. 30 to Nov. 2 in Indianapolis, Ind. Current students attended the college and career expo, visited the Indianapolis Zoo, and attended convention sessions. Recent graduates Cody Coile, Duncan Patton and Kylie Whitworth competed on the national stage. Coile was named a national finalist, one of America’s top four, in the proficiency area of agricultural mechanics design and fabrication. Coile spoke of his work as an intern and now full-time employee at Caterpillar in an interview and was recognized on stage. Patton was named the national winner in the beef production placement proficiency with his work on his family’s cattle operation. Whitworth advanced through three rounds in the prepared public speaking event where she placed third in the nation. Gracie Moon (University of Georgia — Ag Education) and Hayden Echols (Texas Tech University — Ag Communications) earned their American FFA Degrees. Madison County CTAE Director and CEO of the Broad River College and Career Academy Bo Boykin also accompanied students on the trip.
