MCHS FFA teams excel in area events

Madison County High School FFA students excelled in fall events held virtually by the North Region Agriculture Education Office. The meats evaluation team of Wesley Johnson, Hunter Holtzclaw, Ian Heath and Thomas Lord placed third of 11 teams in the Area 2 FFA contest. Lord was the second high scoring individual, and Heath placed fifth in the contest. Team members identified retail and primal cuts and ranked classes of retail cuts. Floriculture team members Anna Kate Mathis, Cade Thomas, Mo Poss and Thomas Lord placed fourth of 22 teams in the Area 2 event. Students identified floriculture plants and disorders, completed a knowledge exam and problem solving activity. Pictured (L-R) are Mathis, Poss, Lord and Thomas.

The nursery landscape team of Ansleigh Goss, Lexi Jordan, Cade Thomas and Coby Hendricks placed second of 12 teams in the Area 2 contest. Students identified landscaping plants and disorders, completed a knowledge exam and landscape estimation activity. The team will advance to the state level in February.
