It was another good outing for the East Jackson cross country teams at home this weekend, as the Eagles hosted the Eagle Run Invitational at EJCHS Saturday.
The boys’ team finished second out of 19 teams, bested only by North Oconee. Habersham Central placed third, with Prince Avenue and Elbert County rounding out the top five.
Meanwhile, the girls finished fifth. Clarke Central won, followed by North Oconee, Dawson County and Jackson County. This year, over 200 varsity runners and over 150 JV runners took part in the event.
The top runners for the boys included Kevin Kesler, who placed eighth out of 121 runners with an 18:13; Brandon Banks placed ninth with a personal best of 18:13; Terry Miller placed 17th with an 18:53; Eric Van Deventer placed 22nd with a 19:12; Josh Kesler placed 32nd with a 19:32; Chris White placed 36th with a 19:39, and Andy Van Deventer placed 41st with a 19:46.
For the girls, Sherri Blalock placed seventh out of 89 runners with a 21:53; Kassie Mull placed 16th with a 23:24; Amanda Anderson placed 23rd with a 24:07; Dakota Chandler placed 41st with a 25:32; Hope Boggs placed 44th with a 25:33; Skyler Cozzens placed 48th with a 25:47, and Alexis Powell placed 54th with a 26:14.
Up next for the Eagles is a trip to Oglethorpe County on Saturday, where they’ll take part in the Patriot Invite.
