A look at this year's East Jackson girls' golf team:

•Coach: Jessie Wood

•Returning starters: Bailey Wilber, Marlee Wilkes, Anna Beadles

•Other key contributors: Maddie Fowler, Rylee Minish and Avery McClure

•Strengths: East Jackson will benefit greatly from returning its top-three players from last year’s team, which qualified for the state tournament for the first time in program history. “They have all stayed busy practicing in the off season,” Wood said.

•Weaknesses: Wood said there are a few candidates to fill the No. 4 spot on the team behind its three returning starters, but there’s some inexperienced players on the squad that need this season to develop to their potential.

•Area outlook: Wood said she’s not sure what the rest of the season holds, pointing to inclement weather which has sidelined teams during the preseason. “No one has really gotten a chance to get real course time in,” she said.

•Season outlook: “We have set goals to improve every day and make our way back to the state tournament for the second year in a row,” Wood said.
