The East Jackson girls’ basketball team were unable to take down a Class AAAAA team on the road, falling to Cedar Shoals 49-41 Saturday (Jan. 11) in Athens.

Haven Rollins led the Eagles (9-9) with 11 points. Maurissa Thomas finished with 10 points.

“I believe we entered the game a little timid for whatever reason,” said East Jackson coach Cherrelle Pullen, a former Cedar Shoals assistant coach. “Once we settled down we started to play our game. We just couldn’t capitalize towards the end.”

East Jackson continues its schedule Tuesday (Jan. 14) at 6 p.m. at home against region opponent Franklin County.
