East Jackson's Ben Lampe finished fourth in the Class AAA 138-pound weight class, capping a 26-7 season. 

East Jackson’s Ben Lampe highlighted the Eagles at Wednesday and Thursday’s (Feb. 10-11) Class AAA state tournament in Macon, reaching the consolation finals and placing fourth.

Lampe went 3-2 during his run in the 138-pound bracket. He lost to Greater Atlanta Christian’s Tyler Garrett in the third-place match. Lampe, the Eagles’ lone placer, helped East Jackson finish 24th In the team standings with 36 points.

Lampe finished the year with a 26-7 record.

The Eagles’ Charlie Wheeler (106), Noah Watts (120), Avery Smith (126), Tyler Crow (160) and Xander Engel (195) also qualified for the state tournament. Watts, Smith and Wheeler all went 2-2.

“Our program took great steps this year in the right direction,” East Jackson coach Andrew Gaddy said. “We look forward to getting back to work in the mat room for next year with all returning except one senior.”
