Jefferson coach Tess Nunnally said her team’s “next man up” mentality was on full display this past Saturday (Nov. 14) in the team’s second meet of the year.

With several swimmers out due to various reasons, the Dragons still won the girls’ North Hall Invitational meet at Frances Meadows Aquatic Center in Gainesville, while the girls’ and boys’ teams combined for a third-place finish overall in the event.

“This was exciting because it shows the depth of talent on our team,” Nunnally said. “ … Many of our top swimmers were not present so others took this opportunity to shine. I was so proud to see our swimmers step to the challenge of having half a team and still be able to dominate the competition in many ways.”

Top performances included:

•girls’ 200-yard medley relay (Alyssa Bartoletta, Makaylee Cain, Karly Bartoletta, and Kylee Novicki), first, 2:12.37.
